Process
- Remove any hangtags that identify having come from Macy’s, check the item for damages, and fold and put the item in a poly-bag if it did not come in one. Keep the tag with the item until the item has been scanned in
- Scan the UPC
- If the product has not been scanned before the image verification page will appear. Verify that the image in our database matches the actual article of clothing. Select the appropriate response from the right-hand side drop down menu then click submit in the bottom right hand corner. If the image matches, the article will be sent to Product creation, if not, it will be sent to Photo. A sticker will be printed designating the item for one of these two stations
- If the item has already been submitted to Photo or Product Creation, click the “Fulfill” button in the bottom right, a sticker will be printed designating what area the item will go to (OH, PA, NV)
- Be sure to remove the tag if it is still in the bag. If a hole was cut in the bag to remove the hangtags, apply the sticker printed in the previous step to seal the hole
Common Issues:
- When I scan the UPC I get an error message stating the item can not be found?
- If there are multiple barcodes on the item, verify that the one you are scanning is the correct UPC. Try scanning the others.
- Attempt to manually input the UPC, enter in the numbers below the barcode including the check digits to the left and right.
- If the item still doesn’t scan, set it aside for management review. Place the item in the “no scan” shopping cart.
- The sticker didn’t print out correctly or doesn’t print at all
- If there is a print error notify your manager, they will be able to reprint the sticker for that item. DO NOT continue scanning items until this has been rectified.
